Polished Perfection

Because we are in the midst of wedding season, what better time to hone our styling skills?
On Monday, I (Courtney) guided the New Leaf girls through the 'Textured Chignon' class.

So timeless and elegant, this chignon is a bridal classic but often dreaded because of it's difficulty. Difficult, you ask? It's looks so simple.

It is actually very challenging to create this smooth design on most types of hair. Sometimes, we get very lucky and a bride comes in with long, one length medium textured hair. Let me translate...sometimes actually means NEVER. But that's okay!
This style, from www.theknot.com, my favorite site for wedding hair, is beautiful in its simplicity. It's so polished and flyaway-free.

Often times, stylists use hair extensions to create length. Without using any 'extra' hair, our wedding team was up for the challenge!

Here I am demonstrating a hot roller set for Jamie Rego. All things are possible with hot rollers...

Here is our own Heidi as a model, showing just how cute a roller set can be:o)

Jamie Evenson sculpting Heidi's hair into place...

And Jamie Rego pinning away...well, not too many pins because our brides don't need any headaches at their receptions.

Pam is working hard on her loyal sister, who always models for our updo classes...what a nice sister!

And Voila! Jamie Rego's gorgeous 'do.

Loving that volume, Pam!

Thanks to all the girls who came to the class. No matter how long we have been in the business, we are always up for learning something new. The class was pretty challenging, given that I didn't let anyone sneak extra hair into the salon;o)

Stay tuned for the next updo class...there will be fake hair flying everywhere! SO fun...

If you have shoulder length hair, have a couple hours to spare and are interested in being a hair model for our updo classes, give us a shout at 401.254.9333!
